Managing partner of Emmergia since 2004. More than 20 years experience in the area of mergers and acquisitions, developed in Spain, United Kingdom and United States. He previously worked at Lehman Brothers (NY and London), The Boston Consulting Group (Madrid) and ICEX (Washington commercial office). During his career he has worked in numerous M&A mandates in different industries, with a concentration in the healthcare and biotechnology sectors. Some of the clients with whom Carmelo has worked in the healthcare space include Teva Pharmaceuticals, Neoprobe, Interventional Technologies, King Pharma, Genosa or Phytogen.
Carmelo is currently a board member of: biotech company Genosa, auxiliary construction company Estructuras Burton and investment company Key Capital.
He is also a professor of corporate finance at the Centro de Estudios Garrigues and the Economists Association of Madrid. He speaks English and German fluently.
Carmelo holds a degree in Business Administration from ICADE (’92) and an MBA from Columbia Business School (’97)

Jeff Schmidt holds a B.S. degree in General Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York, and an M.B.A. degree from Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts. Jeff joined CDI Global from Towers Perrin (now Towers Watson) where he was the Managing Director for Strategy and Organization consulting services. He was also member of that firm’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee and served as the firm’s Chief Innovation Officer. Previously, he was Vice President of Cresap, McCormick & Paget, an international business strategy consulting firm.
Jeff has 30 years’ experience in management consulting, company search, teaching and research. He is an expert on growth strategies and their implementation through business combinations. He is a past member of the SHRM Foundation Thought Leaders and the Council on Foreign Relations. He has been an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado and a member of the Committee on Corporate Development at the Graduate School of Business of the University of Chicago.
Jeff has published more than 50 articles in management and professional journals and is the primary author of a book on mergers and acquisitions.
Jeff specializes in the specialty chemicals, oil and gas, electric power and manufacturing industry sectors.
He has a strong knowledge specifically of the global Detergents and Cosmetics (Consumer Care) industry and also of the Ag industry in general. As President of AOCS he is involved with the global (Natural) Fats & Oil Industry as well as oilseeds and biodiesel.

He holds a BS degree and an MBA in International Business from Lynn University. He has worked for CDI Global since 2001 beginning initially as an Analyst and is currently the Director of North American Central Services as well as the Global Coordinator for CDI Global.
He has completed and been project manager on multiple company search assignments in the biometrics, chemical, HVAC, instrumentation, packaging, and public safety industries; for clients including Advanced Public Safety, Appleton Paper, BASF, The Chemlogics Group, GE Medical, Lubrizol, Nagelbush Mechanical, Solvay; among others.
Paul was born in South Africa and is a United States citizen.
Simon is based in the UK and works on global chemical M&A projects.
Simon has over twenty-five years’ experience in the chemicals industry, including seven years as global commercial director of Ineos Silicas. He holds a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Birmingham (UK) and a postgraduate diploma in European Competition Law from King’s College, London.
After graduating, Simon worked as an engineering trainee for Unilever, before rising through the ranks in the commercial function at ICI, Ineos and PQ. His experience includes sales, marketing, procurement, business development, general management and M&A. He has wide geographical knowledge, having lived and worked in the UK, the Netherlands and Brazil. In 2007-2008, he was a key part of the Ineos team that assembled the PQ joint venture with Carlyle. Since 2010, he has advised chemicals industry clients on topics ranging from product and market development through to strategy, corporate development and M&A.
